Canned Food Donations and a Free Lunch!
We are a generous group. Genealogists tend to be, no?
The Valley Churches Food Drive will have a collection container in our party room.
If you donate two or more cans of food, you win in two ways: 1) you’ll be helping families in need, and 2) you will receive a raffle ticket for a free lunch!
If your name is drawn, your Holiday Party check for $25.00 will be returned to you!
Of course, feel free to donate as many cans of non-expired food as you wish.
However, you do need to donate two cans to be eligible for the “free holiday lunch” raffle.
Free Photo Memento of You and Your Friends Taken by Santa!
Wow! This year we are going to have professional photos taken of members in front of the Christmas tree! After you arrive and sign in, be sure to head to the Christmas tree where you, or you and your spouse, or you and a friend can have your photo taken.
And, guess what? The photos should be ready by the time you head home!
What fun! The photo mementos of the 2012 Holiday Party are FREE, part of your “party package!”
Be sure to wear your holiday apparel!
Ornament/Holiday Item Exchange!
Another new event this year!
Please bring a new, or gently-used, Christmas tree ornament or holiday item to exchange with other GSSCC members. This is not a “white elephant” exchange.
You can find really nice ornaments and holiday items at great prices at Goodwill, for example. Or, take a look in your ornament box. Any item that seems new is perfect.
Please, wrap your ornament/holiday item. You don’t want anyone to see what you brought.
The party planners have an exciting way to distribute everyone’s wrapped ornament/holiday item.
So plan to leave with a lovely new (or very gently used) ornament for your tree or a holiday item for your shelf!
Raffle Event: Gift-Quality Items!
In addition to the separate “win your lunch free!” raffle, we will also be conducting a raffle of gorgeous, top-notch items. These items will be displayed by the Christmas tree. Items are worth much, much more than the cost of a raffle ticket.
Just wait and see!
Raffle tickets are only $1.00 each, and all graciously donated raffle items will be worth at least 10 times that!
We will raffle items off throughout the party, every 10 minutes or so.
When you win, you simply head over to the “Raffle Item” tables and choose whatever gift you like. Again, these are not “white elephant” items, but gift-quality items, new or very gently-used. What a bargain!
If you’d like to donate a nice, gift-giving quality, item you have around the house, please feel free to bring it to the party. The more items, the more winners!
And, of course, the sale of the raffle tickets will help the GSSCC acquire more genealogy books.
Sounds like a good time, right?
Summary:
- If you wish to win a FREE “holiday party lunch,” please bring two or more cans of food to help the Valley Churches food drive.
- If you wish to take part in the ornament/holiday item exchange, please bring a new or very gently used ornament or holiday item. Don’t forget to wrap it!
- If you wish to win one of the top-shelf, gift-quality raffle items, please bring your dollar bills to purchase raffle tickets. Remember, the money collected from the sale of raffle tickets is a donation to the GSSCC.
- If you wish to take home your FREE Holiday Photo, please bring your brightest smile!

- Exit Highway 17, north, at Mt. Hermon (exit 3).
- Drive just under one mile, then turn right onto Kings Village Rd.
(There is a Wells Fargo on the corner). - Turn right into the 3rd driveway on Kings Village Rd.
- Head straight through the parking lot to the rear.
On your left will be Scotts Valley Cinema. Bruno’s is behind Nob Hill, too.
There is an elevator to the second level of the building. We will meet on the second floor of Bruno’s.
The elevator’s entrance is on the outside of the building complex. It’s located approximately in the middle of the building complex, near the Scotts Valley Artisans shop.
If you’re facing the building from the parking lot, Bruno’s is on the right end. The main entrance is on the first floor. There are also stairs to the second floor party room through the bar.
The stairs aren’t exactly “user friendly,” so please take the elevator if necessary!
