In 2021, the Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Our purpose continues to be to encourage interest in the study of genealogy, to provide instructions through classes and speakers, to offer research material in the GSSCC library, and to access to other available resources through the interlibrary loan program.
The GSSCC membership year is from July 1st through June 30th of the following year. Membership is $25 per year, and additional family member is $10. After January 1st, the new membership fee is $15 through June 30th for new members only.
We meet the first Tuesday of each month (except July and August) from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Our meetings start with brief business announcements and are followed by professional lectures. New membership applications are accepted throughout the entire year.
You do not need to have roots in Santa Cruz County to participate in our society. In fact, most of our membership has ancestral roots elsewhere! Both beginning and advanced researchers are welcomed.
Past research trips include bus trips to California State Library – Sutro Library in San Francisco and the California Genealogical Society in Oakland.
In 2019, the Society updated its Member handbook and ByLaws. A copy can be viewed or downloaded here: GSSCC Member Handbook & ByLaws
