TRANSKRIBUS!
Transkribus is a website that generates a transcription of a handwritten or typed document. The program has been trained to recognize older hand-writing in various languages. This can be helpful in transcribing documents that are difficult to read into legible versions. Transcription should not be confused with translation. Transkribus will provide the transcription in whatever language is in the document. Come learn how Transkribus can help your genealogical research.
Pamela Brigham is President of the Silicon Valley Computer Genealogy Group. She believes in using technology as a tool to help break through brick walls and to tell her family’s history. Pamela teaches genealogy classes on a wide variety of topics. She earned a certificate in genealogy from Boston University.

Guest Speaker: Kate Penney Howard
SQUEEZING ALL THE FACTS OUT OF YOUR DNA MATCHES
This program will present strategies for cracking the identities of your mystery DNA matches, those elusive distant cousins who don’t have trees and don’t respond to messages. The program will cover various logical approaches, how to glean information from your match’s profile, and how free and paid resources can help uncover the facts, and most of all, how to leave no stone unturned. Kate Penney Howard is a genetic genealogist, specializing in brick wall research
and endogamy. She tries to break down complex topics into relatable and digestible content. Ms. Howard studied vocal music and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. She has been pastor at North Christian Church since her ordination in 2012. Ms. Howard has presented a wide variety of genealogical programs at RootsTech, the East Coast Genetic Genealogy Conference, and many other groups.
